Accredited first aid training for Johannesburg workplaces, run at your own premises — Sandton and the northern suburbs, the CBD, the East Rand industrial belt and the West Rand. Levels 1, 2 and 3, accredited through HWSETA and the QCTO, taught by paramedics who work the city's calls.
At a glance
The courses
Ralmed runs the three South African workplace first aid levels for Johannesburg employers, at the employer's own premises. Level 1 covers the workplace first aider; Level 2 adds depth where the risks are higher; Level 3 is for the person who will run the scene when something serious happens.
What a site books usually follows what it does. Warehousing and light industry around Kramerville, Wynberg, Marlboro and the East Rand tend toward Level 2. Offices in Sandton, Rosebank, Braamfontein and the CBD generally need Level 1 across the floors, because the realistic emergency is a cardiac event, a fall or choking rather than a machinery injury.
All three levels are taught hands-on. Delegates practise CPR and defibrillator use on mannequins, work through bleeding, burns, fractures and the common medical emergencies, and are assessed practically rather than on paper.

Who it is for
Most bookings come from employers meeting their duty under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, which requires trained first aiders once a workplace passes ten employees.
Sandton, Rosebank, Illovo, Braamfontein and the CBD, where Level 1 cover spread across the floors and shifts is what is actually needed.
Kramerville, Wynberg, Marlboro, Denver, City Deep and the East Rand, where forklifts, racking and machinery move the risk up a level.
Site teams who must produce accredited first aid certificates before a principal contractor will let them on site.
Schools, residential estates and shopping centres across Johannesburg that need trained people on hand during trading and event hours.
The levels
The Act sets how many first aiders you need. Your risk assessment should set the level.
| Level | Who it suits | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| First aid Level 1 | Offices, retail and lower-risk Johannesburg workplaces | Scene management, CPR and defibrillator use, bleeding, burns, fractures, shock and the common medical emergencies |
| First aid Level 2 | Warehousing, workshops and higher-risk sites | The Level 1 skills in more depth, with more on medical emergencies and safe casualty handling |
| First aid Level 3 | Heavy industry, construction and lead first aiders | Advanced assessment, airway and oxygen skills, serious trauma and triaging more than one casualty |
How it works
01
Give us how many people need training, the level, and where in Johannesburg you are. Group bookings and individual places both work.
02
We run the course at your Johannesburg premises. You provide a room; we bring the trainer, the mannequins and the equipment.
03
Delegates spend most of the course on their feet, working scenarios built around their own workplace rather than a generic classroom.
04
Every delegate is assessed practically. Those who meet the standard receive an accredited certificate.

The trainers work the city. Ralmed runs an ambulance service in Johannesburg. The person teaching your staff attends real calls here the rest of the week.
Accredited. Our first aid training is accredited through HWSETA and the QCTO, so the certificate holds up when an inspector or a principal contractor asks.
At your premises. We come to you, which in Johannesburg traffic is worth more than it sounds.
One provider for the rest of it. Fire, risk assessment, incident investigation and occupational health can come from the same team.
Cost
Courses are quoted per group rather than off a fixed list, because the cost moves with the things below. Send the numbers and we will confirm in writing.
These are the things that set the price:

Your options
Most employers weigh these two. With more than a handful of delegates, on-site usually wins on both cost and time.
| Option | How it works | Suits | Things to weigh up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Training at your Johannesburg premises | The trainer and equipment come to you, in your own workplace | Groups, and any site wanting scenarios built on its own risks | You need a room big enough for practical work |
| Sending staff to a public course | Individuals attend a scheduled course elsewhere | One or two people, or very small employers | Travel time across the city, and an unfamiliar building |
| Online first aid course | Videos and quizzes, with no practical assessment | General awareness only | No practical assessment, so it may not satisfy an inspector |

All of it — Sandton, Rosebank, Randburg, Midrand, Roodepoort, Soweto, the CBD and Braamfontein, and out to the East Rand and West Rand. Because we train at your premises, where you are matters far less than how many people need the course.

Questions
Yes. We run accredited first aid courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3 at employers' own premises across Johannesburg, from Sandton and the northern suburbs to the CBD, the East Rand and the West Rand.
Yes, and that is how most Johannesburg courses run. You provide a room with space for practical work; we bring the trainer, the mannequins and the equipment.
Offices and retail usually need Level 1. Warehousing, workshops and higher-risk sites are better at Level 2. Heavy industry, construction and the lead first aider on a large site are Level 3. Tell us what the work involves and we will advise honestly.
Under the General Safety Regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, a workplace with more than ten employees must have at least one qualified first aider for every fifty employees, along with a stocked first aid box. Cover is needed on every shift.
A workplace first aid certificate is generally valid for three years. Diarise the requalification before it lapses, or the appointment on your notice board has nothing behind it.
Yes. Ralmed's first aid training is accredited through the Health and Welfare SETA and the QCTO, and delegates who meet the standard receive an accredited certificate.
Both. Most Johannesburg courses are booked by employers for a group, but individual places are available — call and we will put you on the next suitable course.
Yes. Employers with sites across Johannesburg and Tshwane often run a rolling programme with us, so certificates fall due together rather than one site at a time.
Yes. Fire fighting, risk assessment, incident investigation and occupational health and safety training all run at your premises, usually for the same team that does first aid.
Call and ask. Short-notice bookings depend on trainer availability, and we will tell you honestly what is possible rather than take a booking we cannot staff.
Related training
Most Johannesburg employers pair first aid with fire fighting training and risk assessment. For medical cover on site, see on-site clinics and remote ambulance stations.
