Services for employers

Occupational health services built around your operation

Employers use our occupational health services to keep medical care close to their people, and to support the duties the Occupational Health and Safety Act places on them.

How it works

Setting up occupational health services on your site

01

Tell us about your site

Where it is, how many people work there, the shifts they cover and the risks they face on the job. Occupational health services are planned from those four facts.

02

We plan the cover

Clinic staff, paramedics, an ambulance or a doctor, in the mix your operation needs rather than a fixed package of occupational health services.

03

Care runs where your people work

Employees are seen on site. Cases that need hospital care are transferred by ambulance, with the crew level matched to the patient.

Questions

Questions about occupational health services

How do we get occupational health services for our site?

Call 0861 725 633 or send an enquiry with your site location, head count and shift pattern, and we will come back with a proposal for occupational health services on your site. Ralmed runs occupational health clinics and remote site clinics on employers' premises, staffed by doctors, nurses and paramedics in the mix your workforce needs.

What does an occupational health clinic provide?

An occupational health clinic looks after workers' everyday health and the health risks of their job. Ralmed's clinics carry out occupational health assessments linked to those risks, treat workplace injuries from the first dressing to follow-up care, and run wellness sessions, including HIV education, that encourage early detection and healthy living at work.

What does a remote ambulance station include?

A paramedic team and an ambulance based on your premises, with a doctor available on site where the operation requires one. The mix of staff is planned around your site, its shifts and its risks. When a worker needs hospital care, the on-site crew can transport them by ambulance to a suitable hospital with their clinical notes.

Does on-site care replace our own safety team?

No. Ralmed's occupational health services support your safety team rather than replace it. The duties the Occupational Health and Safety Act places on an employer, such as assessing risks and keeping first aiders and first aid boxes on site, stay with the employer. We help you meet them through clinics, assessments and accredited training.

Which areas do you cover for on-site services?

Our occupational health services, including on-site clinics and remote ambulance stations, are arranged on employers' own premises. Occupational health and safety training is different: our trainers deliver accredited courses at workplaces anywhere in South Africa. Tell us where your site is and we will confirm what we can provide there.

Can workers be treated without leaving site?

Yes. An on-site clinic treats everyday illness and carries out occupational health assessments, so workers are seen without leaving the premises. Injuries are managed by a clinical team on hand when an incident happens, and cases that need a hospital go on by Ralmed ambulance, which keeps lost working time to a minimum.

Do you run health and wellness sessions for staff?

Yes. Ralmed runs wellness sessions at workplaces, including HIV education, that encourage early detection and healthy living. Sessions can be planned around shifts so that everyone has a chance to attend. Ask for the topics that suit your workforce when you plan your occupational health programme with us.

Can you train our first aiders as well?

Yes. Ralmed's First Aid courses, from Basic to Advanced (formerly First Aid Level 1 to Level 3), and its occupational health and safety training are accredited by HWSETA and the QCTO. Courses run at your premises anywhere in South Africa and are taught by working paramedics, so your first aiders learn from people who respond to real incidents.

How is the cost of on-site cover worked out?

The cost depends on the staff mix, the hours of cover, the number of workers and the equipment the site needs, so every proposal is priced for the operation. Send us your site details and shift pattern, and we will explain the options and what each one includes before you commit.
