No. It is a response vehicle staffed by paramedics, who carry out basic medical checks and basic care in people's homes. It does not transport patients. If someone needs emergency care or a trip to hospital, call 086 1725 633 and Ralmed will send an ambulance instead.

The vehicle was launched in 2024 to serve the Sandton area. Coverage can change, so call 086 1725 633 or send a WhatsApp to check whether a visit is available at your address before you plan around it. Outside the area, the Ralmed GP practice in Kelvin View is open 24 hours a day.

It was set up for people who find it hard to get to a clinic or hospital, and for people who are unsure whether how they feel needs a trip to casualty. People living with a chronic illness can also use it for regular basic checks of their vital signs at home.

The paramedics carry out basic medical checks and basic care, such as measuring vital signs like blood pressure and pulse, using the essential medical supplies carried on the vehicle. If they find something that needs a doctor, they can advise you to visit the practice or arrange an ambulance where it is needed.

When it launched in 2024, the service was offered free of charge. Please ask about current charges when you call 086 1725 633 to book a visit, so you know what to expect before the paramedics arrive. The team will also confirm whether the vehicle can reach your address.

Ralmed's job-shadowing programme gives learners in their final school year time alongside working professionals in nursing, medicine, paramedic work, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. Yes. Ralmed provides event medical cover, starting with a risk assessment in line with South African law and then supplying the mix of doctors, paramedics and first aiders the event needs.
